Scientific Name: Tabebuia Serratifolia
Brazilian Name: Ipe

Ipe`, or Brazilian Walnut, is one of the most dense and stunning exotic hardwoods available on the market. With a hardness that is three times that of oak, Ipe` is extremely durable and heavy. Its heartwood colors vary from golden tan, to deep olive brown with some sections of amber tones; darkening with light exposure and age. The grains are full of ipei`na- or yellow to greenish deposits, which create striations or yellow powder on the wood. Its surface is smooth without splinters or knots, and resists scratching, pest and fire.

Brazilian Walnut- Ipe`- is available in prefinished, unfinished solid construction, engineered and decking.

Installation: Recommended nail down for solid, gluing is not recommended as the wood cannot breathe causing natural oils to warp and destroy the finish over time. Engineered glue down, staple or nailed.
