Cumaru,Brazilian Teak, is one of the finest quality exotic hardwoods available. Its hardness measures 3540 on the Janka Scale, and is almost three times the hardness of Red Oak. The colors of its heartwood vary from golden honey to dark tan and auburn; while its sapwood ranges from light beige to deep cream in tint. With age and exposure to sunlight these tones become more uniform in appearance. Brazilian Teak is an exotic hardwood that is immensely popular with homeowners and decorators who desire a more earth-toned floor. Its hue radiates great warmth; creating an inviting and tranquil atmosphere.

It is a robust and solid wood imported from Brazil that has an irregular, somewhat interlocked grain and wavy, course surface. Due to its density Brazilian Teak is naturally impervious to rot, decay and insect attack. It is medium to fine in texture, and slightly oily in nature. Its durability and resistance to weathering allow for Brazilian Teak to be used in marine construction and railroad crossties.
